Clark Nexsen, a JMT Company, is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer Graduate to join its Virginia Beach team. This position offers a great opportunity for recent engineering graduates to gain hands-on experience under the guidance of licensed engineers while contributing to meaningful projects that improve communities and infrastructure across the region.
Role Overview
The Civil Engineer Graduate will assist in the design and development of civil engineering projects, including site design, utilities, and stormwater management. Working alongside experienced professionals, the role focuses on both technical growth and professional development. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality design and engineering services.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of site layouts, grading, and infrastructure projects for commercial, residential, and municipal developments.
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for stormwater and drainage systems.
- Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Participate in proposal preparation and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Assist during construction phases by reviewing submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
- Coordinate with other engineering and design disciplines to ensure project consistency.
- Contribute to LEED and sustainable design documentation efforts.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal engineering standards.
- Attend project meetings and participate in design discussions.
- Follow company quality control procedures and project standards.
Required Skills and Attributes

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Successful completion or eligibility for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
- Commitment to earning Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within 60 months of hire.
- Prior internship or related experience with an engineering or architectural firm is desirable.
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and interest in LEED accreditation is encouraged.
- Membership in professional organizations such as ASCE or NSPE is preferred.
Working Environment
