Job Description

Appalachian State University is inviting applications for a full-time Lecturer in Accounting within the Department of Accounting at the Walker College of Business. This is a non-tenure track appointment based on the Boone, North Carolina campus.

The successful candidate will join a department known for its strong academic community, housing around 500 undergraduate and 30 postgraduate students, supported by 24 full-time faculty members.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Lecturer in Accounting
  • Employment Type: Full-time, 10-month appointment

  • Estimated Salary Range: $55,000 – $57,000 per year

Responsibilities

The appointed Lecturer will primarily teach introductory courses in financial and managerial accounting on campus. Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching a standard load of 12 credit hours per semester
  • Contributing to curriculum development and course innovation
  • Participating in student recruitment, alumni engagement, and departmental service activities

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold:

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting, or
  • A Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting coursework

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with the following attributes will receive preference:

  • Prior teaching experience or recent professional accounting experience
  • Strong background in U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant)
