Job Description
- Reports To: Principal or Designated Campus Leader
- Division: Academics, [Assigned Bob Hope School Campus]
- Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience as determined by the 2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule (pro-rated based on start date)
Core Purpose:
To inspire and guide secondary students in a dynamic learning environment, fostering their intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence, and social responsibility. The Secondary Educator will empower students to develop essential skills and knowledge, preparing them for success in a rapidly evolving world.
Essential Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
- Texas teaching certification appropriate for the assigned subject and grade level is desired.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the assigned subject matter and secondary education best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans aligned with established curriculum standards.
- Exceptional classroom management skills, promoting a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational capabilities.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in response to evolving educational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery: Develop and execute standards-aligned lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and promote critical thinking. Prepare instructional materials, assessments, and activities as required.
- Instructional Strategies: Implement a variety of research-based instructional strategies to engage students and maximize learning outcomes.
- Assessment & Data Analysis: Employ formative and summative assessment techniques to monitor student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Student Support: Collaborate with special education staff to modify curriculum and provide appropriate accommodations for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Support students in developing effective study habits and learning strategies.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
- Communication & Collaboration: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators. Participate actively in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
- Extracurricular Involvement: Sponsor and supervise extracurricular activities that enhance student learning and promote school spirit (as assigned).
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional growth activities to enhance pedagogical skills, stay abreast of current educational trends, and meet certification requirements.
- Technology Integration: Effectively integrate technology into instruction to enhance learning experiences and promote digital literacy.
- Policy Compliance: Adhere to all district, state, and federal policies and regulations related to education and student well-being.
- Reporting & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Adjust instructional methods and strategies as needed to address student needs and evolving educational requirements, including the possibility of remote learning.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Campus Director.
Working Environment:
Utilizes standard classroom and office equipment, including computers, projectors, and other educational technology.
Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain emotional composure under pressure, and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of classroom materials and equipment.
May require exposure to typical school environmental conditions and occasional biological hazards.

Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child’s education. Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus. Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages. Campuses are located in Port Arthur, Beaumont, Baytown, and Cy-Fair, Texas. The Hughen Center, Inc. is the charter holder of Bob Hope School.
