About the Role

We are seeking a Media Relations Expert to lead our media strategy and issues management at Anthropic. In this role, you’ll strengthen relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers, while also collaborating across teams to translate complex AI topics into clear and engaging stories for a wide range of audiences. We are looking for a skilled communicator with deep media relationships, especially in business, technology, and mainstream media, who is passionate about making advanced technology accessible to everyone.

Responsibilities:

• Build and Foster Relationships: Establish and maintain strong connections with key media outlets, analysts, and industry influencers.
• Craft Compelling Media Narratives: Develop powerful media strategies that align with Anthropic’s goals and drive business impact, securing placements in top-tier media.
• Issue & Crisis Management: Collaborate with internal and external teams to manage and respond to issues and crises strategically and promptly.
• Manage Media Inquiries: Oversee Anthropic’s inbound media requests, interview scheduling, and speaker engagements, ensuring timely and effective responses.
• Executive Support: Coordinate with executives’ support teams to manage high-profile media engagements and prepare executives for interviews and speaking opportunities.
• Simplify Complex Concepts: Translate intricate AI and technical concepts into digestible content for diverse audiences.

• Have 10+ years of experience in media relations, particularly in high-growth technology companies.
• Thrive in fast-paced environments and are able to manage multiple priorities at once.
• Have a proven track record of securing media coverage in top-tier publications.
• Are highly organized and enjoy building systems that help scale media programs.
• Excel at nurturing relationships with the technology, business press, and commentators.
• Bring experience in crisis communications and managing issues with tact.
• Can break down complex technical concepts into engaging stories for a broader audience.
• Care about ensuring that AI systems are developed safely and ethically.

Compensation:

• Annual Salary: $200,000 – $255,000 USD, based on experience.

Logistics:

• Education Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
• Hybrid Work Policy: Staff are expected to be in the office at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more frequent office presence.
• Visa Sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! While we cannot guarantee sponsorship for every role, we will make every effort to assist successful candidates and work with an immigration lawyer as needed.
