Your Role in a Nutshell
In this position as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting production of advanced gas turbine combustion components. The work environment is highly dynamic and fast-paced, requiring problem-solving, technical expertise, and close interaction with colleagues from manufacturing, design, and service engineering. Much of your time may be spent on the shop floor, partnering with operators to refine and strengthen manufacturing processes for both existing and new product lines. You will also be actively involved in discussions about design-for-manufacturing approaches, ensuring smooth transitions from concepts into reality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, refine, and implement specialized manufacturing processes for combustion components used in gas turbines.
- Provide hands-on leadership in projects related to process development, repairs, and continuous improvements.
- Act as the link between engineering concepts and shop floor execution, ensuring accurate process documentation, technical instructions, and training are in place.
- Offer technical guidance to operators and fellow engineers on the use of advanced fixtures, tools, and production equipment.
- Support new product introductions while driving efficiency and reliability across existing production lines.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in fabrication or machine shop settings. More experienced candidates may qualify for advanced positions.
- Technical knowledge in forming and fabrication methods, including welding and brazing of nickel-based alloys.
- Desirable skills include CNC programming, experience with laser drilling/machining centers, and knowledge of vacuum furnace heat treatments.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (preference for Siemens NX) and exposure to fixture design, sheet metal forming, and robotic programming.
- Strong grasp of production improvement methods, Lean/Six Sigma principles, and familiarity with tooling and equipment selection.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, and GD&T, as well as experience with both destructive and non-destructive testing.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visas. Current Siemens Energy employees with existing sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
