Your Role at a Glance

We are hiring Full-Time Level 3 PSIA/AASI certified instructors (or foreign equivalent) to join our Ski & Snowboard School. As part of Vail Resorts, you’ll work alongside passionate individuals from around the world who love snow sports, nature, and guest experience. This role plays a key part in creating memorable moments for guests who travel globally to experience our mountains.

What You’ll Do

As a Ski/Snowboard Instructor, you will:

  • Instruction & Guest Experience
  • Deliver high-quality ski or snowboard lessons to individuals and groups
  • Teach alpine techniques to guests of all skill levels, with a focus on advanced skiers
  • Create a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment
  • Accurately assess guest skill levels and adjust lesson plans when needed
  • Clearly instruct students through verbal explanations and physical demonstrations

Safety & Mountain Support

  • Uphold the highest safety standards on varied terrain and in changing weather
  • Assist guests with transporting equipment and loading/unloading chairlifts
  • Help students stand, balance, and move confidently during lessons
  • Follow and promote all protocols outlined in the Ski School Resource & Guidelines Manual
  • Maintain teaching areas and support registration processes

Team & Program Support

  • Collaborate with supervisors and peers to deliver exceptional guest service
  • Train and mentor other ski instructors as required

For roles working with children:

  • Supervise young learners at all times
  • Assist with lunch/snack breaks
  • Ensure safe return to their designated guardian
  • Support operational tasks such as registration, equipment direction, and facility upkeep

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Specifications

  • Skill Level: PSIA/AASI Level 3 Certified
  • Wage: Starting at $26.06/hr
  • Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2025/2026
  • Schedule: Full-time availability required
  • Housing: Available

 

What You Bring — Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current PSIA/AASI Level 3 certification (or foreign equivalent) with proof
  • Previous ski or snowboard instruction experience
  • Ability to attend training sessions
  • Basic computer and internet navigation skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Strong teamwork abilities
  • Must pass a background check

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to respond to emergencies and unexpected situations
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and move on snow for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in high-altitude, cold, and variable alpine weather
  • Adequate sight, speech, and hearing to follow and deliver instructions
  1. Must be available to work weekends and holidays

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with guests of all ages
  • Knowledge of the local area/resort
  • Background in teaching, coaching, or mentoring children
  • Spanish language skills

 

Pay Transparency

The expected pay range for this position is $26.06/hr. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, certifications, and other job-related factors.
