About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Student to join our design department. This position offers hands-on experience in building design and power distribution systems, working alongside experienced engineers, architects, and project managers. The role includes a variety of design-related and project-support responsibilities to help develop your professional and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and documentation process under the guidance of senior engineers or architects.
  • Contribute to conceptual design, system layouts, and detailed analyses for building electrical systems.
  • Support the preparation of schematic design, development, and construction documents.
  • Participate in developing marketing and presentation materials when required.
  • Engage in construction-related services such as responding to RFIs, conducting field visits, and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Adhere to company and departmental quality control standards and design procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate project activities.
  • Continuously learn and apply design software, standards, and techniques used within the department.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, concise technical documents.
  • Creative and technically precise approach to problem-solving and design challenges.
  • Capable of delivering professional presentations to various audiences.
  • Team-oriented mindset, demonstrating adaptability and collaboration.
  • Ability to independently arrange accommodation for the duration of employment if needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Must be a full-time student enrolled in an ABET-accredited program and have completed at least one year of study in one of the following disciplines:
  • Electrical Engineering (focus on building design and power distribution)
  • Electrical Engineering Technology (focus on building design and power distribution)
  • Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering concentration)
  • Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering concentration)

Familiarity with design and production software used in project development is desirable.

Experience with general business and project management software such as Microsoft Office is expected.

Previous internship or relevant engineering work experience is preferred.

Working Conditions

JMT supports a healthy work-life balance and offers a flexible hybrid schedule. The selected candidate will typically work from a JMT office at least three days per week or as required.
