About the opportunities
Join our team at Mercy Hospital for Women, a specialist tertiary level public hospital in Melbourne. We care for ladies with some of Victoria’s most challenging pregnancies. You will provide treatment for women with high-risk pregnancies, as well as normal birth models such as homebirth. Mercy Hospital for Women is a cutting-edge facility that houses one of Victoria’s only five neonatal critical care units, as well as an advanced gynaecology/oncology and urogynaecology program.
Our hospital is in the green district of Heidelberg, 18 kilometres northeast of Melbourne’s Central Business District, and right opposite Heidelberg Train Station.
We currently have a number of open roles and would love to hear from you!
- Registered Nurse opportunities are available in perioperative services, newborn critical care unit, speciality gynaecology, and general gynaecology units.
- Registered Midwife roles are available in midwifery continuity of care models, homebirth, postnatal/antenatal units, birthing suites, and emergency departments.
- Option for full-time or part-time.
- Permanent and fixed-term opportunities are available.
- Visa sponsorship is possible for successful candidates, if needed.
- Salary according to the Victorian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement (base hourly rate AUD $36.10 – $48.27 + allowances), with planned future enhanced conditions under this agreement.

To succeed in this position, you should also have
- Register as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or
- Currently registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand or the Midwifery Council of New Zealand, and eligible for registration with AHPRA
- A minimum of two years of clinical experience in the area of competence after completing a graduate year in nursing or midwifery is preferred. A commitment to women and neonatal-centered care
- Ability to communicate successfully within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and a diverse patient group.
You will also be asked to submit proof of, or in the process of getting
- A current police record check, as well as a working with children check.
- Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination, and additional immunisation records in accordance with public health requirements.
