Job Description
Solutions Architect – San Francisco Compute Company
San Francisco Compute Company is redefining how organizations access and trade computing power. Our mission is to make compute resources function as a true global commodity—simple to buy, sell, and scale in real time. By creating a trading marketplace for compute contracts, we connect startups, data centers, and traders in a way that ensures every unit of compute power is used efficiently and profitably.
When businesses require high-performance computing for tasks ranging from AI research to data analysis, our marketplace offers instant access to capacity at market rates. Providers can also benefit by filling idle clusters through speculative trading. In short, we are building the digital infrastructure that will make compute as accessible and liquid as any other traded resource.
About the Role
We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our growing team. This role operates at the intersection of engineering, product development, and customer engagement. You will work directly with clients to design, implement, and optimize compute solutions across multiple environments. Your insights will help shape both the customer experience and the technical evolution of our platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver compute architectures that align with customer requirements.
- Provide technical advice on system scaling, cost management, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to enhance APIs, deployment tools, and documentation.
- Support clients during onboarding and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Develop templates, guides, and technical playbooks for consistent and repeatable deployment.
- Participate in architectural planning and contribute to strategic product improvements.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or solution architecture.
- Strong knowledge of compute and networking systems, including Kubernetes, Docker, and similar tools.
- Familiarity with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Excellent communication and diagramming skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas.
- Comfortable working closely with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- A creative and analytical mindset focused on solving technical challenges at scale.
Preferred Experience
- Work experience involving GPU workloads, distributed computing, or technical marketplaces.
- Background in developer relations, infrastructure documentation, or technical writing.
- Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Interest in decentralized computing systems and high-performance architecture.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range between $140,000 and $230,000, based on experience.
- Competitive equity package.
- Visa sponsorship and relocation support available.
- 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% employer match.
- Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents.
- Unlimited paid time off plus more than ten public holidays annually.
- Paid parental leave for biological, adoptive, and foster parents.
- Daily lunch provided at the office.
- Unlimited book allowance for office use and learning resources.
