About the Role
The Next Gen BigData Team (Lumi) is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and development of a Data Marketplace platform that will become the central hub for managing, evaluating, and accessing enterprise data products. This role goes beyond engineering—it’s about architecting scalable platforms, embedding compliance processes, and ensuring a seamless experience for data producers, consumers, and reviewers alike. Your expertise will lay the groundwork for secure workflows, metadata management, data contracts, and policy validation across multiple data domains.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development
- Build and deploy the Data Marketplace application from inception through delivery.
- Develop core features such as advanced search and review tools, reviewer dashboards, contract and product registries.
- Integrate quality and usage data from multiple sources (BigQuery, APIs, Collibra, Atlas).
- Establish approval hierarchies and workflows that ensure compliance with organizational risk standards.
APIs and System Integration
- Design and implement APIs for metadata ingestion, updates, and contract management.
- Enable interoperability with enterprise data catalogs and knowledge hubs.
- Partner with internal engineering teams to align with broader system architecture.
Governance and Compliance
- Create automated validation tools to ensure policy adherence.
- Implement robust auditing for all contract and data product updates.
- Secure onboarding processes for data producers and products.
User Experience and Dashboards
- Work closely with UX design teams to create interfaces tailored to diverse user groups.
- Deliver dashboards presenting adoption and certification metrics.
- Ensure accessibility, responsiveness, and reliability of all user-facing applications.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Actively engage with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to convert requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to agile team practices such as sprint planning and backlog refinement.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ in leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success designing full-stack enterprise systems and API-based applications.
Proficiency in:
- Backend: Java, Python, Shell Scripting
- Frontend: React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Databases: SQL (BigQuery, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL platforms
- Cloud: GCP, AWS, or Azure environments
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata systems, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong background in DevOps, including CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes.
Preferred:
- Marketplace or internal data platform development experience.
- Knowledge of data contracts and product lifecycle management.
- Prior integration with enterprise-level data catalogs and knowledge hubs.
- Experience incorporating search intelligence or GenAI-driven recommendations.
- Understanding of chatbot functionality for user support.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary: $120,000 – $210,000 (based on experience, role, and location)
