Role Overview

We’re seeking a Data Scientist to join our Marketing Analytics team based in Brooklyn. This role offers the chance to continuously learn new skills and improve techniques—growth and curiosity are highly valued here. This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager of Analytics. Along with a competitive salary, you’ll be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits designed to support you and your family.

About the Team

The Marketing Analytics team drives the success of Etsy’s marketing by delivering insightful analysis, industry-leading measurement techniques, and providing the data and tools necessary for informed decision-making and optimization.

We collaborate closely with colleagues across marketing, analytics, research, product, engineering, and finance—from identifying opportunities and refining user experiences to measuring campaign impact and pinpointing areas for improvement. Our work strengthens Etsy’s platform and enhances the experience for all users.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and refine marketing measurement frameworks and models, including attribution, customer lifetime value (CLV), ROI, experiment methodologies, and segmentation.
  • Transform raw data into meaningful, actionable insights to shape performance marketing strategies, ensuring strong data governance, clear documentation, and transparent methods.
  • Identify growth opportunities through behavioral and transactional data analysis, helping prioritize strategies to engage and expand Etsy’s user base.
  • Define key marketing metrics and make them accessible via dashboards and reports, driving these metrics through rigorous statistical analysis of experiments.
  • Continuously update and enhance your technical skill set, sharing knowledge with the team.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience as a data scientist or analyst, or in a quantitative role, with demonstrated ability to extract insights from large datasets with minimal engineering support.
  • Experience with performance or digital marketing operations, channel attribution, churn and lifetime value modeling, and growth strategy analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with marketing measurement projects such as multi-touch attribution (MTA), lifetime value (LTV) modeling, and experimental design (e.g., geo-experiments, controlled lift studies).
  • Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly present insights visually, verbally, and in writing to diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to guide peers, recommend tools, and improve team workflows.
  • Analytical thinker with a passion for problem-solving complex challenges.
  • Enthusiasm for experimental design, data visualization, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Looker or Tableau is a plus.
